Abstract
The subject of the article is the analysis of regulations concerning the suspension of driving
licenses and the institutions corresponding to them earlier since regaining independence in
1918, aimed at determining its possible evolution and defining its significance. Tracing over
100 years of its regulation, in particular its causes, has shown a clear development of this
legal institution. This is evidenced by its relatively early isolation and gradual expansion of
the reasons for the suspension of driving licenses and finally giving it a statutory character.
